Legal and Industrial

The ETU can assist you with legal and industrial issues.

Any matter relating to your employment can be handled by the Union. If you have an industrial or employment matter, contact your nearest ETU office to speak with an organiser in the first instance and they will provide you with advice on how to proceed.

If you have any legal matters that do no relate to your employment, such as contracting matters, sole trader issues, security of payment claims, family law, Civil Law, Criminal Law or any other legal issue, the ETU can assist you. Contact our office and talk to Aaron or Ron from our Industrial Team for a referral.

NEW law - Legal Services Available to ETU Members.

As a union member you have access to legal services for all aspects of law. Workers Compensation Claims, Industrial matters, Security of Payment claims and Wills are all processed free of charge and are covered by your membership fees.

Members can also access legal services relating to other areas of law including Civil Law, Criminal Law, family law and Property Conveyance - if you require assistance in these areas of law, members will receive their first consultation free of charge with ongoing costs dependant on the complexity of the matter being dealt with.  The cost of running these matters is not covered by your membership fees.

If you are in need of legal advice call your local office to arrange a referral to NEW Law, the ETU’s partner legal firm, who will be able to assist you.

If you have any general legal questions feel free to submit them to our Secretary, Bernie Riordan, by using the 'Ask Bernie' tab on the left hand menu or contact your local union office who can refer you to one of our New Law specialists.
