The executive of the union have endorsed the introduction of an ETU Education Scholarship Scheme (ETUESS) for members, their children and their grand children.
We know that many members really struggle to put their kids through tertiary education. These scholarships will provide some relief for members who are incurring educational costs through university or TAFE based courses.
The ETU will make available financial assistance to a total of $20,000 available each year to be allocated across multiple individual education scholarships. Applicants will be required to submit an application form which can be found below or you can call our office to have an application form mailed out. All applications will be processed and judged by an independent panel.
Two types of scholarships will be offered including the biennial Dave McLeish Academic Award (awarded every two years at the ETU Conference) which will involve university studies in a field relating to the trade union movement including an internship with the ETU. The second category will include up to six general scholarships covering trade training, TAFE courses and university studies in any curriculum, general scholarships will be valued at $2,000 each.
This is a great opportunity for ETU members to further their education or provide that helping hand to your children and grand children as they build their future career. The ETU is excited and proud to be able to offer these scholarships and we encourage all members to take advantage of this opportunity.
Applications for the biennial Dave McLeish Academic Award are now open. The successful applicant for the Dave McLeish Academic Award will be announced at the ETU Biennial Conference to be held in Febuary 2013.
Applications for ETU General Education Scholarship's are now open and must be received by the ETU office no later than 4.30pm, Thursday the 30th of June, 2012.
