ETU members fighting for a fair EBA at Boral Cement are in their sixth week of industrial action.
Around 20 electrical workers have imposed an overtime ban since 18 August with frequent weekly stoppages.
Boral Cement employs 200 workers including AWU, AMWU and CFMEU members at three sites on the NSW South Coast.
The company seeks to impose a four-year EBA that includes a total pay rise of just 3.5% cent plus deep cuts to core conditions.
Boral wants to abolish:
❌ Arbitration of disputes under the Dispute Settlement Procedure
❌ RDOs
❌ Contractor Clause
❌ Security of Employment clause
❌ And reduce annual leave loading.
The Combined Unions claim is for a three-year agreement that boosts wages by 4% per annum.
An industrial campaign was launched after 95% of workers endorsed a Protected Action Ballot.
ETU delegate Clive Collier said employees are ‘pissed off with the worst pay offer ever seen’.
‘The company is attacking all our conditions. We are not copping it.’
Clive said ‘Boral always cries poor’ despite raking in a group net profit of $640 million last year.
‘We see record tonnage going out the gates. Business is booming. Boral can afford to pay a fair wage rise,’ said Clive.
ETU organiser Brad Currey said the company’s offer was far below industry standards.
