Agreement Interpretation Course (ETU Financial Members)

Agreement Interpretation Course to qualify for Productivity Allowance

If you work under an ETU 2022-25 construction enterprise agreement, your EBA includes provision for a Productivity Allowance, currently at $3.70 per hour for every hour worked. Rates may differ for apprentices and other industries. If you are unsure, contact your local organiser.

However, the new EBA requires you to successfully complete an annual Agreement Interpretation Course to qualify for the Productivity Allowance.

You need to pass this Course, in your own time, by 1 May each year to receive the Productivity Allowance from 1 July  each year, and for the following 12 months.

The good news is this Course is easily accessible and free for financial ETU members. A fee will apply for non-members.

Unfinancial ETU members need to bring their membership into financial status by 30 June each year to access the Course fee-free. If you are unsure of your financial status, please contact the ETU member support team at [email protected] or (02) 9267 4844 to check or pay outstanding fees.

ETU members who are not working under the recently negotiated ETU 2022-25 construction agreements can still undertake this course for free if you want to. This will ensure you receive the Productivity Allowance from day one if you commence work with a company that is covered by the ETU 2022–2025 construction EBA.

The Agreement Interpretation Course requires you to answer questions about selected clauses from the EBA, with the relevant clauses supplied as part of the Course.

Once you take and pass the Course, you will receive a Certificate of Attainment. You will need to email a copy of the Certificate of Attainment to your Employer or alternatively print it out and hand it to your Employer.  This will enable you to be paid the Productivity Allowance from 1 July each year.

If you have questions regarding the Course, please contact your ETU organiser, listed below.
